Saint Patrick’s Day is such a fun time of year in the classroom. This pack is perfect for Upper Grades. Students will complete a reading, respond to the text reading comprehension, and enjoy a fun crossword puzzle that allows students to close read the text searching for key details.

Students will learn about who St. Patrick was and his absolutely FASCINATING history. Students will also be engaged in these St. Patrick’s day Reading Activities when they learn about the Celtic mythology behind ancient Irish beliefs like leprechauns, fairies, and how we celebrate today.

There are some really FANTASTIC corresponding FREE activities that go along with this product.

1. Students can continue the fun in an additional reading about the “Luck of the Irish,” In this free reading comprehension and question activity students will decide if they Irish really are “lucky” of not with a brief glimpse into Ireland’s history as well as learning about some of their most iconic lucky charms and traditions.

3. Continue the fun. After you learn all about Irish Lucky Charms and traditions examine other lucky things from all over the world across many different cultures. The Luckiest Charms reading comprehension and questions can be purchased here, and the free extension crossword activity can be downloaded here. In this activity, students will learn about the lucky Chinese Coin and 12 other lucky charms. My favorite part of this entire St. Patrick’s Lucky Themed activities is the extension where students create their own lucky charm using a replica of a Chinese Fung Shui Coin, some cord, a straw, and scissors! The step by step video tutorial and instructions can be found at www.onlemonlane.com. Supplies for this craft are extremely affordable.
